Welcome to the Real P3 podcast.

Casey

Today I'm excited to introduce you to Animistic, a new venture under the Sunswine Group. Our mission at the Sunswine Group remains steadfast to drive innovation and thought leadership in animal agriculture with a focus on animal nutrition and health. However, we've narrowed our focus and adopted a new forward-facing name to better represent the breadth of our expertise beyond swine. Our current clients span across various animal species, including pigs, poultry, rabbits,

Casey

and pets.

Casey

We serve diverse businesses such as feed additive companies, biological companies, livestock producers, vaccine companies, and pet food and supplement companies. And let's not forget the equipment companies as well. While my passion project to help individuals achieve their version of success continues, it will be on a limited basis. Reflecting on my 14 years as a PhD level animal scientist, that doesn't include my previous career as a researcher and farm manager in

Casey
0:01:41
the swine industry, I am grateful for the diverse experiences and lessons learned. I didn't settle for working solely with pigs or being just a nutritionist. These experiences have been invaluable and I'm eager to share this knowledge with the world. My mission in life is to help others thrive, not just survive. You'll notice new hosts, creators, and content types on our platforms. This is to help both them and you. As an avid reader and podcast

Casey
0:02:12
enthusiast, I've elevated my consumption of knowledge to grow and transform my business and life. I hope to spark something in you by exposing you to new people and new ideas. For example, last year we launched our first supplement product, Keep'em Right Layer, and participated in Walmart Open Call. Though the product didn't fail,

Casey
0:02:37
I realized my preference for B2B over B2C. Listening to podcasts and taking coaching programs geared towards B2C businesses, this has confirmed my decision. I want to serve B2C businesses, not operate in that market directly. Rebranding and refining the Sunspine Group's mission have grown tremendously.

Casey
0:03:01
We now serve three types of clients. Producers to refine their production systems beyond nutrition, the allied industry for market development, and B2C businesses to develop and market animal nutrition and health products. The Sun Swine group was always meant to compromise consultants with diverse expertise. We now combine nutrition, health, genetics, and production expertise in the swine and

Casey

poultry industries, while continuing to work with the largest rabbit producer in North America. Additionally, we are integrating training and education into our services. Our new consultancy approach focuses on people managing operations, not just on nutrition or genetics. Animistic distribution is coming to the forefront, working strategically with various companies as their technical service and sales support for the North America market. This collaboration provides a toolbox of products to drive solutions.

Casey

In upcoming episodes, you'll learn more about these products, and if you have tools that could complement our offerings, please reach out. But please do not bring me the latest unicorn dust. Lastly, I have a 2-3 year plan to build a prototype test kitchen and laboratory in laboratory to help businesses develop animal nutrition and health products for direct consumer sale. Having experienced the high upfront costs and research validation needed for new supplements,

Casey
0:04:34
I aim to change this with strategic partnerships and facilities. I hope this project doesn't turn out to be another female project with escalating costs. Over the past months, I realized I've always been an entrepreneur and an inventor, from creating grass and dandelion salads for the pigs as a child, to selling my handmade cards at markets.

Casey
0:05:00
I've evolved from a consultant to business owner. And so welcome to the new era of Animistic, where we aim to serve your goals through science and heart. And now I want to take some time for my team to introduce themselves and what they're excited about the new branding with Animistic. Hi everyone, my name is Philip Johan Odendal, also known as Voss.

Philip
0:05:23
I am a born and raised Zimbabwean. I'm going to be joining Dr. Casey Bradley and the Animistic team as a co-host of the podcast series The Real P3, as well as some of those episodes moving over to Coffee in the Barn. What I bring to the table will be a lot of discussions around resilience from a global network. I was awarded a Nuffield scholarship in 2022, and through that Nuffield journey, not only has my own life started to change, but I've also been granted access to the most

Philip
0:05:57
amazing network all over the world. What I've learned on these travels is that resilience is a word that's needed all over the world, not only through our own story from a really difficult environment. Zimbabwe has not been the easiest place to live in for the last 20 years, but we've managed to stick it through. A lot of the trials have been both business and social aspects, and people have started asking questions and reaching out. And resilience, as far as I'm concerned, is a roadmap. We don't need to be resilient only when things are going tough. We need

Philip
0:06:32
to be resilient and we need to implement the sort of rules and the toolkits that we need for resilience even while things are going good. Not only are these good healthy habits and mindsets to have, but it's also a really great thing to call on when things, or if things do get tough. My perspective on the world and I've had the opportunity of seeing both through the first world and the third world is that we are all resilient. Human beings are resilient and we get too stuck into our own sort of spheres or our scopes and our

Philip
0:07:02
own peripherals and we need to start hearing from people all over the world what they do, how they've pulled through hardship and how they've succeeded against all odds and how they're managing to move from day to day. And even if things aren't going well, you can just meet the most amazing personalities that are just trying to get the best out of life and be the best versions of themselves that they can be. So the initiative that we're starting is called Unstoppable, and through Unstoppable,

Philip
0:07:30
we're going to be introducing a lot of really cool stuff and bringing that to the table. And for you as an individual who are going to be a part of this journey, let's become unstoppable and let's grow together.

Elizabeth
0:07:41
Hello everyone and welcome to the podcast.

Elizabeth
0:07:44
My name is Elizabeth Cooper and I'm just starting out here with Animistic and I'm so excited to become one of the hosts on this show. I just recently completed my PhD in animal science at the University of Maryland in College Park. My dissertation focused on describing and investigating the effectiveness of using dietary tributarian supplementation in sows during gestation to alter the long-term growth performance

Elizabeth
0:08:12
in their piglets through changes mostly in the fetal muscle growth and development. I have also been passionate about animals from a very young age and always sought out ways of surrounding myself with them. And that includes not only livestock species, but also even exotic animals. I am also a proud Cal Poly alumni, ride high you Mustangs, which is where my true passion for comparative animal nutrition began. I am a natural problem solver and love solving puzzles. So studying nutrition, especially in those non-traditional animal models, offers a great deal of that.

Elizabeth
0:08:51
My background in both exotic species as well as livestock is sure to bring a unique perspective to this show. It is my hope to see a future in which people can reconnect with where their food comes from. There is a great deal of misinformation in many areas of our lives today, and it is our job as animal scientists to help illuminate some of the truths through facts, data, and even open discussion.

Elizabeth
0:09:16
So I hope you will join me on this podcast as we get to meet many of the people responsible for bringing food to each of our tables.

Vero

Animistic has given me the opportunity to grow as a professional while taking care of what is most important to me, my family. The balance I find here allows me to excel at work and be present for my loved one. During COVID-19 pandemic, while other companies shut their doors to hiring, Animistic gave me an opportunity.

This speaks volumes about their commitment to growth and supporting their employees, even in challenging times. My work at Animistic always feels rewarding because we provide affordable services to niches that wouldn't have access to professional services to grow their businesses.

This is where once the episodes are recorded, my work is to edit the raw audio to enhance clarity, remove background noise, remove the amps, you know, just make the episode good to listen to and to make Casey, Philip, and the featured guests sound good, you know. This stage also involves adding music, sound effects,

and other audio elements that enhance storytelling. My other responsibility is in distribution and marketing. Once the episode is polished and ready for release, I handle the distribution process, ensuring it reaches our audience through various platforms. Benta
0:15:22
There is something uniquely powerful about the spoken word and the intimate connection it creates with the listeners. Being able to craft and share these stories through the medium of podcasting is incredibly rewarding for me. In summary, I would say that my role as a podcast manager at Animistic is a blend of creativity, technical skills, and collaborative efforts. The fulfillment I derive from this work stems from the opportunity to tell impactful stories, the innovative

and supportive environment, and the continuous professional growth it offers. Animistic is not just a workplace, it is a community where creativity thrives and I'm proud to be part of it.

Well, as always, if you get a chance today, hug a pig or animal of choice and keep a lookout for the upcoming arrival of our foster kittens to the Becker household. I'm going to be sharing that here soon. So I'm really excited about some of the fun things in life. So I'm really excited about some of the fun things in life. And I hope you are too.
